Cherry Blossom Festival

Stupid Tourist Saturday!

We met up with a bunch of friends from church to experience the Cherry Blossom Festival in Yeouido. We started out at the National Assembly building and then made a detour to the 63rd building and then made our way back to the festival via Yeouido Park along the river. It was a beautiful day for a walk and the cherry blossoms didn't disappoint. Every tree was in full bloom and the street looked beautiful. Both sides of the road were lined as far as the eye could see. The crowd was unbelievable. It seemed like the entire city of Seoul had come to enjoy the trees, have lunch or take in a show. Along the road there were several very eccentric art displays that all incorporated living plants. Doesn't ginseng root make for wonderful art? (above) Every wonder what to do with worn out kitchen gloves? Now you know. (below)They also had a traditional Korean play being performed in the field behind the National Assembly building. I have no idea what the plot was but the acting was very comical. Just before the audience had a chance to become bored with the mediocre acting, a fire eater came out and wowed the crowd.
