Friday was my roommate's girlfriend's birthday. We all met at a local pub for the celebration.
It was nice to blow off steam from Thursday's staff meeting. Korean management styles clash with our American sensibilities. For Koreans constant ridicule and criticism might work but as Americans we need a slightly different approach. Criticism is good because it helps us to improve. But when we've done a good job, it would be really nice to be recognized for it. American business managers have a variety of tactics for recognizing good work and effort in the office but this management style doesn't seem to have made it to Korea.
